Arc Industries has spent the last ten years developing a strict criteria for the selection of welding equipment. We have made it our goal to offer only the best equipment available from the manufacturers we deal with. All of the welding equipment we offer has been choosen with your application in mind. We have considered quality of build through components used, ease of use & safety features followed as part of Australian Standards application.
In our selection criteria we have considered and implemented many procedural testing steps. It is our sincerest hope that we have developed a welding product group that will see you through many years of high qualit production while obtaining maximum efficiency & safety in your work place.
The following steps to choosing a great machine are as follows:
Step 1 Understand your application What type of welding application do you have What technologies are available and how effective are they for your application What form of power supply do you have available: (ie: single phase 240volt 10 / 15 / 20 amp) or ( 3 phase 10 / 20 / 30amp) What conditions , environment , are you working in What building code standards do you need to follow (ie; X-Ray quality welds)
Step 2 Understand your requirements What wires, electrodes & gases will you need to apply What are the characteristics of these consumables (ie: we consider the amp & voltage requirements of specific filler wires & electrodes) What time frame you have to work in considering machine duty cycles What are the safe working requirements you must achieve from your welding machine Portability , comfort & ease of use
Step 3 Testing Arc Industries will request a machine from one of the manufacturers we deal with. We then apply a full in house test as carried out by our trained welding staff & electrical trades technicians. We will test for: Amp & Voltage supply at electrode end (Electrode = Mig wire / Tig tungsten / Stick electrode) O.C.V open circuit voltage with machine under load & no load Cooling equipment during weld & after weld P.C Board protection with a spiking trial via a power kill switch Potentiometer graduation in AMP / Voltage & Wire speed modes Weld quality & deposition rates Primary power requirements from power supply sockets (what is it pulling) Internal Component test during rapid on off welding torch selection Duty cycle as per manufacturer recommendation: (Duty cycle = welding time before machine shut down for cooling at a specified amperage setting as a % of either a 5 or 10 minute cycle): ie: a 20% duty cycle for 100 amps = 1 minute of welding available before shut down cooling based on 5 minute duty cycle parameter.
Step 4 Visual inspection of machine Quality of components used Ie: capacitors , contactors , diodes, relays , transformers, P.C boards , solenoids, wire feed motors, socket panel mountings, primary power cable , work cables , interconnection cables, insulation, machine casing, welding torches and accessories, potentiometers & switch gear, amp & volt meter calibration. Overall Weight & quality of construction for use in some harsh environments Ergonomic design for user improved user implementation
By following these steps we can implement the correct welding machine for your needs. We insure an optimum product allowing you the highest quality welds with maximum efficiency & greater safety for years to come.
